Rangers finish regular season undefeated at 16-0
In the 7 full seasons of the Milwaukee MSBL, the 2000 Trysting Place Rangers became the first team to put together an undefeated regular season (16-0) by defeating the original league champion Braves by the score of 16-1 Sunday at Wisconsin Ave Park. The formula for the latest victory was the same as many of the others: solid pitching, good defense, and plenty of hitting. Starting pitcher John Arnold, with relievers Dan Trivett and Al Alt held the Braves to 1 run on 6 hits, with 0 walks. Trivett faced, and retired 9 consecutive Braves in 3 innings of work. Hitting highlights include 1B Terry Teske, RF Dave Globig, and DH John Bergner with 3 hits each. LF Jack Barron cracked his 3rd HR of the season, and Globig added his first HR. 2B Pete (Doc) Whalen scored 3 runs and knocked in 3 RBI. Dan Trivett also had 3 RBI. The Rangers go in to the league playoffs with a first round bye, with the opponent for the 2nd round, field, and time to be announced.
