Through the first 5 innings Wednesday night at Wick Field the Marlins had the Trysting Place Ranger offense shut down on 2 hits and no runs. The Marlins put together a 5 run 3rd, highlighted by 2 RBI hits by both Phil Logans and Eric Wojecski. The Ranger bats came roaring back to life in the 6th, as the first 5 batters reached base on hits. When the inning was over, the Rangers had batted around totaling 6 runs on 7 hits. Insurance runs in the 7th and 8th secured the win. The Rangers clinched the Weeknight Division title with tonight's victory. Starter John Arnold pitched a complete game, with 9 K's and 1 Walk. Hitting highlights for the Rangers include DH Pete Whalen who was 3-4 with 2 stolen bases, 1 run and 1 RBI. RF Eric Rohde was 2-2 with a single and a double, scoring 1 run and driving in 1 run. 4 other Rangers had 2 hits including LF DJ Haas, 2B Terry Teske, 1B Jeff Kovnesky, and SS Scott Radtke. |
