Despite not playing one of their better defensive games, the Trysting
Place Rangers defeated the Old Dutchmen by the score of 13-4 Sunday at
Wisconsin Ave Park. CF Pete Jaske led off the game with a triple to deep
left center, one of Pete's 3 extra base hits, and LF Jack Barron promptly
singled him in for the early lead. The Rangers gradually added to the lead,
and used the steady pitching of starter Gary Witthuhn, 3IP no runs or hits,
and relievers Dan Trivett and John Arnold to hold the Dutchmen to 4 runs
(2 earned) on 7 hits. The pitching trio combined for 14 strikeouts. Other
hitting highlights include 3B Al Alt with 3 runs scored, and RF Eric Rohde
who reached base safely in all 4 plate appearances. For the Old Dutchmen,
CF Jeff Hall connected on a solo HR in the 9th. |
