The Beat Goes On as Rangers top Marlins for Win #10
Solid Pitching and Hitting Keys to Victory

The Trysting Place Rangers chalked up yet another convincing win Sunday at Wick Field, beating the Marlins by the final of 11-1. The Rangers, now 10-0 on the season, got another outstanding pitching effort from the combination of starter John Arnold, with relief help from Dan Trivett and Gary Witthuhn. The Ranger pitching staff now has a July team ERA of 0.50. The Ranger hitters supplied plenty of run support, scoring 10 runs through the first 4 innings. Hitting highlights included LF Pete Jaske with 4 singles, 3 stolen bases, and 3 runs scored. C Mike Butterfield reached base safely on a single and 3 walks. Gary Witthuhn singled 3 times and drove in 2 runs, and DH Tom Cavey drove in CF Jack Barron in the Ranger 2nd with the first of his 2 doubles on the day. 2B Pete Whalen singled twice, and Darriel Witthuhn socked an RBI double in his Ranger debut. Defensively in the Marlins 6th, with the bases loaded and no outs, SS Al Alt turned a double play, and Butterfield caught a runner attempting to steal, ending the Marlin threat.
