On a sunny but cool Sunday afternoon, the Trysting Place Rangers opened
the 2000 M.S.B.L. season with a 12-4 victory over the Sox. Ranger starting
pitcher John Arnold pitched 3 hit ball over 7 scoreless innings, while
the Ranger offense used a balanced 16 hit attack to build a lead and coast
to the win. In his 7 innings, Arnold allowed only 5 Sox baserunners, recording
12 ground ball outs.
Hitting highlights include SS Scott Radtke with 2 doubles, 3B Dave
Globig 2 singles, RF Pete Whalen 3 hits and 3 RBI, and DH Tom Cavey 2 hits
with 3 RBI. New Ranger C Mike Butterfield doubled in his first AB, caught
a runner attempting to steal, and made a nice catch on a high pop near
the screen. Gary Witthuhn, Jack Barron, and Eric Rohde each scored 2 runs. |
