Sunday at Burnham Park, Ernesto Castro and the Yankees shut
down the Trysting Place Rangers usually potent hitting attack. In 6 innings
of work the lefty allowed only one run, a solo HR by Ranger 1B Jeff Kovnesky
while striking out 15. The Yankees built leads of 6-0 and 7-1, and hung
on to win by the final score of 7-5. Kovnesky was 2-3 on the day with 2
runs scored and 2 RBI. Danny Trivett and DJ Haas also collected RBI hits
for the Rangers.
Note: The game was played under protest by the Rangers as suspended
Yankee Manager Dean Muller entered the team bench area after specific orders
not to. This caused not only a distraction, but a disruption of the ballgame,
and the umpires will report the incident to league officials.
