The Trysting Place Rangers began their post season play with a
victory over the Rockies Sunday at Humboldt Park. The Rockies, who had
eliminated the Braves on Saturday, started lefty Anthony Fioretti against
the Rangers John Arnold. Through 5 innings the two pitchers matched each
other, allowing only 1 run. In the sixth, after a leadoff walk, Rockie
Tom Luken belted a triple to right, and the Rockies had the lead at 2-1
and threatened for more. But Arnold stranded Luken at third, retiring the
next 3 hitters on 2 strikeouts and a popout. In the Ranger sixth the bats
came alive, as 8 men batted producing 5 runs. In the seventh, the Rangers
added 4 more runs, all after 2 outs, including a 2 run triple by Jack Barron.
